HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP (Product Number: CE538A)
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello HP,

I've been having problems trying to get my HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP to print any documents. After attempting to fix the problem using HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.2.1, scan doctor stated that it can not communicate with my printer and wanted me to look up some settings from the printer. So, I attempted to retrieve data from from the printer display window by trying to enter settings of the printer. Thats when I noticed that the printer is frozen in the current menu and pushing any of the buttons on the control panel does not function. None of the buttons do anything to the printer. No sounds or tones are emmitted when any of the buttons are pushed and the current screen displayed (Setup Menu HP Web Services) will not change.

I cycled the power (hit power button off and then on again) the first time and the printer would not fully boot up (only a white blank screen visible). Upon cycling the power a second time the printer fully booted and is in Ready status, however the orange ! (exclimation mark and green power light to its left) are flashing about once per second. Additionally, none of the buttons work or make any tones or sounds when pushed. I have no idea how to fix this!

Please help!

My Computer operating system is : Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit OS

Printer: HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP

Product Number: CE538A

Sincerely, Eric R.

I would recommend performing an NVRAM reset.  Check YouTube for video instructions.

20190531_171232.jpg20190531_171238.jpgRepairatrooper,

Thank you for the response. Is an "NVRAM reset" the same as a factory reset? I have read instructions on how to factory reset the printer, and it says you should turn it off and then turn it on while holding the "left arrow key" and "cancel button" (I assume this means the pink colored X button beneath the right arrow button, as there is no cancel label for it) until you see the "Permanent Storage Init", then you can release the buttons. I have tried this procedure, and I can never make it to the part where I see the "Permanent Storage Init" screen, so I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or the problem is deeper than this. Also,  I can't find any information specific to NVRAM reset for an HP 1536 dnf MFP on google or on Youtube, do you have a specific link that you could direct me to or any additional information that might help me? Thank you!

You need to replace the formatter or bake it first.

It's not a joke i myself have done it for many times on many different models of printer formatter and it really works.

If it's not work then replace the formatter.

See it on YouTube. And there are more of them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPDSNqFGGmI&t=161s

There are several videos on YouTube that show examples of a "bake" fix for a bad formatter. This is my unscripted attempt to do the same thing. 1) I show a walk-through of what the problems are. 2) I take apart the printer and show what is going to happen and why. 3) Preparations for Bake fix ...
