We have several HP LaserJet 400 M401dn and HP LaserJet 400 M401dne printers.
One of them - when printing an A5 document via Adobe Reader - does it without any problem, but when printing an A5 document via Word, the printer says for a very short time "printing document" but does not print anything, and does not even give any error.
Another one of them - when printing an A4 document via Adobe Reader - does it without any problem, but when printing an A4 document via Excel, it's the same: it says for a very short time "printing document" but does not print anything, and does not give any error.
I even looked into the event protocol at the printers' homepages (accessible via IP Address), it does not say anything.
I found this thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/HP-LaserJet1018-Printer-Does-Not-Print-Windows-10-US... and it suggests installing the printer locally.
So the only way we could get the printers printing everything is, not connecting them via our print server but locally. (When installing the printer in Windows, I can say "local or network printer".) Then everything gets printed, but the local installation is not good because we have a page counter running on our print server.
Why do the printers behave that way? Current firmware is installed. What can we do?
Thanks a lot for suggestions!
Anne
