Hi... I have HP LaserJet 4000 printer that was working great with my old computer. Now I got a new computer with Windows 10 64 bit OS and I cannot find a driver for the printer to work. The display on the printer says "Receiving data" but nothing prints. I bought the "USB to Parallel Printer Cable USB-A to Centronics 36-M/M - Type A Male USB, Centronics Male" to connect to the computer.
Could you please suggest what to do?

My best suggestion to you is to dump the parallel-usb adapter and get a parallel to network adapter and connect the printer to the network. Doing this will eliminate all the inherent problems with usb and allow you to manually configure a Standard TCP/IP port for the printer and use the HP UPD drivers which show support for the 4000

You can try to un-install and re-install the HP UPD drivers to see if it helps. And the UPD PCL5 is better.
I have seen many USB to Parallel Printer Cables which are not stable to use.
There's another choice which is HP Jetdirect 600N/610N which are old but stable and can be plugged into HP 4000 and become into network printer.
