Please elaborate.  Does it actually print anything or simply make start up sounds and then stop without feeding any paper. Do you get an error?

Printer seems fine but won’t print.

Status:  Printer:  Error

Status:  1 document(s) in queue

I run Troubleshooter-

Problems found:

A print job in the print queue is preventing other jobs from printing.

Status: fixed

But, it still won’t print.

I try resetting the printer,

Unplugging the printer and plugging it back in,

Resetting my router…

I can usually get it to actually start printing,

And it starts to feed the paper in about 1” then stops without printing.

Does it have trouble feeding the paper? Does the feeder mechanism rotate several times to feed a sheet? If so your pickup roller may be worn out.

I wondered about the roller being too slick and was about to try cleaning it.

I never thought it might be worn out.  That may just be the problem.

Thank you!

Well, I got it to start printing.

The paper fed in just fine then stopped after feeding in just 3".

The roller did not continue to try to feed the paper.

The printer just stopped completely.

Hi, i'm using HP 5L too Win7 x64, it's a very good printer.

No cloth dressed all broken i've been using it in this way for a long long time.......

You need to replace the feed-roller which seats at Feed Assembly which under the bottom side of Paper Feed Frame.

Download service manual you'll need it.

Feed-roller seats at bottom side of Pick-up roller and combine with Paper Registration Sensor as a part of the Feed Assembly.

Here's how it looks

You need to change the worn rollers or you can use shrink-tub to wrap the roller and use fire to make it shrink.

then it will work fine fine fine.

It's how i use it in that way for many years. It really works.

Yes, i fix my own printer myself. It's my daily work.
