HP LaserJet M102w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP LaserJet M102w attached to WIN10x64 via USB direct to PC / No Hub

Software Version  044.001.2483.17117

Printer Driver Version 24.94.1.6550

Printer works just finefor a couple weeks.  It then takes about 2-3 minutes to print a single page, then the same 2-3 minutes to print the next page.  I have cured the symtom by removing and reinstalling the drivers.

This behavior has occured on two different PCs. Both running WIN10x64. I have tried mutiple USB cables.

HP-- Are there any diagnostics I can run to help debug this issue?

Has anybody else experienced this undocumented feature?

Hi @ARDailey,

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with slow printing issues with the printer. Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 I will be delighted to assist you here.

For better clarity, and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you run the print and scan doctor and check if it gets fixed?
  • Did this happen after a recent software or windows update on both the computers?

For now, try these steps:

  • Please run the print and scan doctor utility from this link: http://hp.care/2syjvp6; and check if the issue gets fixed.
  • If the issue continues, follow the steps from this link: http://hp.care/2rHKwDD
  • to update the printer’s firmware.
  • Now check if the issue gets fixed.
  • If it continues, perform all the prescribed steps from this slow printing document and http://hp.care/2jv8p1L check if it resolves the issue.

If the issue persists then try these steps to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers.

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click this link: http://hp.care/2ji3JMM to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

This should do the trick for you.

If this does not work, then try the Windows built-in drivers by installing it by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2o3acvH

This will definitely work for you.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient.Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Did you ever find a fix for this issue. this has almost the same issues I have with numberous M203dw's we have.

YOu install and it works without issue for a few weeks, then you can send print jobs to it and it will sit in the queue for a few minutes before they come out. An uninstall/reinstall cures for a few weeks, but the issue comes back.

Thanks! I am hoping you solved and this will help me solve my same issue! if i find a solution I will notify you!

Unplug the power cable, wait 10sec and plug power cable back. Done 🙂

p.s. I've had this problem with my clients many times
