I've had the printer for a while now and it has never had this problem. It showed up the first time a few days ago when I turned it on. The printer can't get past the init screen and I can't hear the mechanical noises it used to produce at startup. I've read lots of other messages on this forum and you answered them by providing a factory reset procedure sent by private message. I'm writing to ask if you please could message me with that procedure as well, unless you have any better guess on what the problem can be.

i'm not sure that a factory reset would help you in this case.  That kinda more clears user settings within the printer.  disconnect the printer from your network, power cycle the machine and see if the issue still comes up.  if it does, i'd wager something went wrong with the formatter board, its like the brain of the printer.  sending firmware updates probably wont help either, as the printer needs to be in a ready status.

Sound like it 's a formatter issue.

You can bake it to see if it helps and if fails then you need to replace it.

Check it on YouTube ther're many of them.

Just key-in the key words "hp print bake".
