@scalpel85

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Hi Betty0610.

We have exactly the same problem with the same family of printers, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw . It will never go past "initializing". It has recieved the correct drivers and displayes the correct IP but showes up as disconnected due to this initalizing mode.

This is as strange as it may sound but it is an absolutely new printer. Unpacked from a perfect unopened box and set to work on december 26th. It has been stored unopened for several years in its box since bought from Staples. So the waranty has expired, or has it? This is actually new and hasn't moved a single sheet of paper and the printer itself stores it's operational data to be the best witness.

So I hope that a total reset of the printer together with possible new coding would be immensible apreciated.

Just maybe that would solve our problem. We really need this printer since the old one has gone down after 19 years of service.

Thank You for your patience.

resetting does not work for me   as it works but reverts to initializing again  after it prints and sits for a while.  I have uploaded the new software and firmware to no avail.  I had hoped i  could just leave it in sleep mode and when it wakes it would work but no it just reverts to a screen where i says auto on auto off  choose and then it   wont respond to input.  I think if you search on the web this is  a common problem but   HP is  has not solved it  for me yet although she did contact me to tell me how to   reset it  this is did not solve it and frankly it is not a big secret on how to  reboot it

Thank you for your comment. Appreciate that.

Can you tell me the secret?

 i am going to respect their wishes to  keep it private but I don't know  how to message you pm  on the board it also differs depending on if you have a touch screen or buttons

I fully Understand. Yes it's got touch screen buttons. I have asked another HP rep. for reset function so I will wait and hope for help.

 the solution is on the internet and frankly HP is  not very helpful   btw I can not find the mailbox for the forum cant send you a pm  so   what you do disconnect the  printer from the network   while it is failing initialization    pull the plug wait 3 minutes then  turn on copy and x at the same time and hold it  some of them you have to hold  the direction arrow r.   if you do this it goes resets from initialization.  i don't know why this is a deep secret.  In may case it works for one print job then  goes to sleep and wakes up with auto on/off please select and wont go pat that so it requires another reset,  at least mine has worked for about 5 years I think.  The printer is great no other issues.  I have a full  toner cartridge so dont want to toss it yet and besides it is a perfectly good printer till now.
