Hi @Sandman1955,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It appears that when you upgraded to Windows 11, the generic driver automatically installed by the operating system may have replaced the full-feature software needed for advanced functions like duplex (two-sided) scanning. Many HP LaserJet Tank models in the 260x series, such as the MFP 2606sdw, rely on specific HP software to coordinate the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for two-sided tasks.

  1. Install the HP Universal Scan Driver: Go to the official HP Support page and download the Universal Scan Driver or the HP Easy Start software. This ensures your computer recognizes the specific hardware capabilities of your scanner's document feeder.
  2. Enable Two-Sided Scanning in HP Smart: Open the HP Smart app, select the Scan tile, and look for Source. Ensure it is set to Document Feeder (not Scanner Glass), then toggle the Two-sided switch to "On" before starting your scan.
  3. Check Scanning Preferences: If the option is still missing, search Windows for Printers & scanners, select your printer, and click Scan properties. Ensure the "Duplex" or "Two-sided" box is checked under the device settings tab to re-activate the feature for Windows 11.

For a step-by-step walkthrough on resolving scanning issues after a Windows 11 update, please refer to the HP Support guide for Windows 11 printer issues

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
