Hi @Ralphanthony48,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet 5000N printer isn’t working because you can’t find a driver for Windows 10. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and how to get it working.

Check Windows Built-in Drivers
Open Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners → Add a printer or scanner.
If Windows doesn’t find your printer, select “The printer that I want isn’t listed.”
Choose “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.”
On the driver screen, scroll through the list — look for HP LaserJet 5000 Series PCL5 or PCL6.
If available, select it and complete the setup.

Use HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)
Download the HP Universal Print Driver – PCL6 or PostScript (PS) from HP’s official website.
Run the installer and select Add Printer.
If your printer is on the network, choose Add a network printer, or if connected via USB, choose Add a local printer.
The UPD will detect and install the appropriate communication protocol.

Install via Microsoft Update Catalog
Visit the Microsoft Update Catalog.
Search for HP LaserJet 5000 and download the latest available driver (usually PCL5 or PCL6).
Unzip the file and during printer installation, choose Have Disk, then browse to the extracted driver folder.

Add Printer Manually Using IP or Port
If the printer is networked, note down its IP address (print a Configuration Page from the printer).
In Windows, go to Add Printer → The printer that I want isn’t listed → Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
Enter the printer’s IP address and select the appropriate driver when prompted.

Try a Generic HP Driver
If specific drivers are unavailable, you can use the Generic HP PCL5 or PCL6 driver included with Windows.
This will allow basic printing functionality (text and simple graphics).

Check Printer Communication
Ensure the printer is powered on and connected via Ethernet or USB.
Try pinging the printer’s IP address from your PC to confirm network connectivity.
If using USB, try a different port and cable.

Run a Test Print
After installation, go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Right-click your LaserJet 5000N → Printer Properties → Print Test Page.
If the page prints correctly, the driver installation is successful.

If Still Not Printing
Remove the existing printer from Devices and Printers.
Restart the computer, then reinstall using the HP Universal Print Driver again — this resolves most detection issues on Windows 10.

I hope this helps.
