I'm probably missing some small detail, but after extensive searching and contemplating, I've decided to ask here.
I have a LaserJet Pro 400 M451dn which arrived in my office with no toner cartridges at all. We ordered the appropriate cartridges, 305A (verified on the printer box and here on the HP web site), in three colors plus black.
I've only opened the yellow and blue, but neither fit. In the near left and right corners, there's a piece in the printer tray that will not allow the cartridges to slide in. Everything else appears correct as far as the location of electrical contacts, tabs, etc. but no amount of wiggling or twisting will allow the cartridges to slide into the tray where they belong.
I'll feel a bit foolish if it's something incredibly simple that I'm missing, but I'd rather know than continue trying my own solutions that do not work.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure there's any way to step away from this gracefully. I never looked at the model number on the front of the printer, but I have now. It came out of the Pro 400 box (where it fit nicely) and looked, upon very quick inspection, like the one on the box. I have been working on the wrong model printer. It's actually a CP2025 which, of course, uses different toner.

Make sure the orientation is correct. Front of the toner towards front of machine. See the link below:

I appreciate the feedback, but I'm sure it's oriented correctly. After the initial difficulty the page you sent is one of many I checked to be sure. I tried all other possible orientations as well, in case I missed something obvious. I still think I'm missing something obvious. It cannot be this difficult to put toner in a printer.
