My HP Laserjet Pro MFP M29w will no longer connect. I followed all the instructions to reset and the HP app still cannot find the printer.

I think the issue was with my router. I called my internet provide, and they changed a setting on the router, which fixed the problem.

Hi @Frustrated404,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
It sounds like your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w has entered a "stealth" mode where its wireless radio is active but not broadcasting a signal the app can see. This usually happens when the printer is still trying to use old network credentials or if the 2.4GHz broadcast from your router isn't reaching the device properly.
Force the printer into Wi-Fi Setup Mode
- Ensure the printer is turned on and in a "Ready" state with no blinking error lights.
- Press and hold the "Wireless" button and the "Cancel" (X) button at the same time.
- Hold them for about 5 seconds until the Power light and the Wireless light both start blinking.
- Wait for the printer to settle; the Wireless light should continue to blink, indicating it is now searching for a new connection.
Refresh your mobile device or computer connection
- Toggle the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi "Off" then "On" again on the phone or computer running the HP Smart app.
- Move your mobile device within three feet of the printer for the initial handshake process.
- Close the HP Smart app completely (swipe it away from your recent apps) and then reopen it.
- Select the "Add Printer" or the plus (+) sign in the app and wait at least 30 seconds for the M29w to appear in the "Found" list.
Finalize the connection via a Temporary Setup Network
- Look at your device's available Wi-Fi networks in your system settings if the app still fails.
- Connect directly to the network named "HP-Setup-M29-LaserJet" (no password should be required for this temporary link).
- Return to the HP Smart app, which should now automatically recognize the printer.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to input your home Wi-Fi password and bridge the printer onto your permanent network.

Are you trying to set this up using a mobile phone or a laptop computer?
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
