HP M477 custom display panel shortcuts

Hi,

i was wondering if it is possible to have custom shortcut apps/icons that u can configure the display panel to show.

my use case is this: instead of traversing thru all the steps each time (scan to email, select recipient, duplex on/off, ...) when scanning a document  i want to save preset configs for my common use cases.

same goes for copying: eg. 1sided b/w, 2sided b/w, ....

in my quest i have come across the win10 "hp smart" app and that has an function called "smart task". can it be done with that somehow ? (i couldnt figure it out though... )

now my old dell from 6 yrs ago let me do this and that was in same price range, and i have seen that other (HP) models support this.

if this is not possible, then i will sent the printer back for lack of needed features.

As a Pro level product the M477 with the woefully small control panel does not offer the same flexibility as the Enterprise models with 8" screens

... but still possible todo as my former dell showed, which has the same size but solved the problem by letting you

• rearrange the icons on the display panel
• add new ones that contain the customized settings and name them approperiately

same goes for the Canon i-SENSYS MF635Cx.

btw: in the meantime i figured out the "smart tasks" which is exactly that idea except of no use in a SOHO setting when ur computer is not right next to ur printer .... unless is there an andriod app for this ?

so i'm a but flabbergasted  that HP doesnt seem this as an important feature for a product that is targeted for such a setting (see https://store.hp.com/app/tech-takes/5-best-hp-laser-printers-small-business). i'd say, their PO needs to pick up his/her slack here.

just tested the smart app on android, same crap here. while u can config smart task it falls short of the basic feature to have a single button for the whole task at hand, eg: single sided scan, color, recipient, resolution, ....

again, i have here to manually select scan and adjust the settings each time and uh yes! i can click on the "smart task" which just contains my email. oh geee, who designs this useless crap? and they are now in the business of doing printer for how long ?  unbelievable!
