Hello Jamiefoxx,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting Wired Network Issues on HP M479 Printer

If you are experiencing issues with enabling the wired connection on your HP M479 Printer to access the Web Interface, follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Connections:

    • Ensure all cable connections to both the computer and the printer are secure.
    • Confirm that the network is operational and the network hub is turned on.
  2. Network Configuration Page:

    • Print the printer’s network configuration page. This can provide useful information about the current network settings.
    • Check that the printer is not in an "Offline" state.
  3. Manual IP Configuration:

    • If the printer is not being detected, you may try setting a fixed IP address manually:
      • Access the printer’s control panel.
      • Navigate to Settings > Advanced setup > IP settings.
      • Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway, which should be supplied by your network administrator.
  4. Installation of HP Software:

    • Verify that the HP software is correctly installed. A missing network port or incorrect configuration may prevent access.
    • Your network port should match the printer's IP address.
  5. Restart Devices:

    • Power off the printer and the router, then turn them back on in the following order: router first and then the printer. This can help resolve network communication issues.
  6. Firewall and Security Software:

    • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your computer, as it might be blocking the printer from connecting.
    • Ensure that the firewall does not block the printer's IP or MAC addresses.
  7. Check for Issues Using Web Interface:

    • If you can access the network configuration page but are unable to reach the Web Interface, try accessing it by typing the printer's IP address in your web browser.
  8. Enable Wired Connection:

    • If still unable, navigate to the printer's control panel to ensure no Ethernet cable is plugged in, as this can disable wireless capabilities.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may wish to contact HP Support for further assistance or consult your network administrator to check for possible issues on the network side.
