I am having trouble with a paper tray that is giving the same error code on two different HP M608 printers that were installed new in May of this year 2018. The first printer would not print from tray 2 because of the lifting error code, so I swapped trays between two differnent printers in the network, swapping them worked and then both printers printed from tray 2 but the second printer which now has the first printers tray is giving the same lifting error code as the first printer did but it is printing fine.
Why is this error code being produced by one of the paper trays on two different printers? I cannot see any obvious problems such as packing tape on the tray frame.

Hi Russ551,
Since the lifting error has been transfered from one printer to another, it is clearly something wrong with that specific tray.
Mark that dodgy tray and compare it with the good one. Put them side by side and try to spot any little difference they may have. Look from all sides around, even from underneath as there are some springs there. Try to move the guides and try to spin the cogs and feel any differences.
I hope this might help you,
Cheers!

Thanks for your reply, some new information, both model HP M608 printer's are now showing the lifting error code but both are now printing. HP is going to send out a new tray for printer number 1, but a new warranty request will have to be sent for printer numer 2.
It is strange that both printers which were newly installed in May 2018 are giving the same error message.
