HP M404DW Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently installed a new printer M404DW, using USB printer cord, and wasting a lot of paper on printing.  When i print a PDF almost 85% of the time it acts like it prints, but i get a piece of paper with either PCL XL ERROR with  KERNEL Illegal Tag or VECTOR Missing Data.  I can then repreint it again and it will print.   But it is getting annoying and im ready to throw it away.  Running on Windows 10, not too tech savy, but need an fix.  Thanks!

If you are having trouble printing PDF documents I would suggest that you install the PostScript driver as it usually has fewer issues with PDFs. The problem could be a corrupted document or the document is looking for a font that the printer does not understand.

I don't think that it is it, only because once it does it the first time, then you can hit print again and it prints.  So not sure if that would help or not.  And it the same type documents i print all day long.  They are specialized, they are PDF's that vendors send that i have to print off and include in reports.

You posted here obviously looking for suggestions for things that have solved this type of problem for other users and then discount the advice of a technician with 25 + years working with HP Laserjet products. Hopefully someone else will post a solution that fits your preconceived notions of what will solve the problem.

Agree with what @Repairatrooper was saying. He knows what he talks about.
