I gave this some thought and decided on a different way to solve this problem. Rather than spend more time and money with HP support, I decided to buy a different printer. The HP printers have name recognition but with problem like these, they are no longer attractive.


To that end I bought a Brothers multi function printer and it works right out of the box. No special turn off fire wall, no download most current software, no update firmware. Nothing needed except unpack and setup printer, install software, and done.

I figured with the money and time I would spend resolving this problem I can probably purchase 3 Brothers printers.

Problem is now solved.

Thanks for the follow up.

 

When HP contacts me I will follow up as I would like to know why it is so difficult to set up this printer.  In the mean time the Brothers is working as I need it to.

After spending some time with HP the situation is unchanged. Hp offered a replacement printer at a very reasonable price but could not provide any help to identdify what the problem is or if the problem would occur with the replacement printer.

 

My decision was to stay with the Brothers MFC as it involved no additional cost or time as the Brothers printer works fine with Windows 10.

if you use the web interface the tools work from their hence log in using browser and printer ip address 192.168.1.xxx
