When I print from preview, or word, or any other program in MacOS the print job sends to the printer, then the printer seems to whirl up and make some noise (maybe the document feeder?) and then stops - on my mac it just says printing and on the printers screen it just says printing.  Every now and then after I restart everything and turn everything on and off it does actually print straight away as it should, but then it eventually reverts back to the stubborn issue described above. Even weirder it sometimes happens with some documents but not with some others - there doesn't seem to be any correlation with the type of documents it wants to print and doesn't want to print! Makes no sense!

I have attempted to troubleshoot by uninstalling/re-installing drivers, making sure all software for both MacBook and HP printer driver is up to date, using Airprint (both secure Airprint and Airprint alone), performing hard reset on the printer, converting documents to PDF and nothing is working.  When I do a test page print for the HP easy start prompt, it prints fine and network are both the same.  Can someone PLEASE help resolve this before I completely give up on HPs all the way around.

I am even willing to just run hardwires and forgo wireless all together but that doesn't seem to be working either.

Hi @Jchelsea23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Do you have security software on your computer?

Does it disconnect from other devices as well?

Try the steps below to resolve the issue-

To set a manual IP and try the steps below ( with control panel)

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP
--->then go to networking ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply
--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply
--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am having the same problem. There is no problem with the computer connecting to the printer, they are connecting perfectly. The problem comes when I try to print. The print application shows a document printing and the printer warms up to print and rotates, but no paper is actually printed. Again, it is not a connection problem and I have worked to hard reset the printer, reinstall the printer, ensure everything is the newest operating system, but the printer refuses to print from a Mac randomly. Our windows computers rarely has this issue.
