Hi @CNB1T3T00V,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that your HP LaserJet MFP M438nda is displaying a “Jam inside” error. This message indicates that the printer has detected paper or a possible paper obstruction somewhere inside the paper path.

Clear the “Jam inside” error.

Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.

Open the printer's front/side access areas and carefully inspect the paper path.

If necessary, remove the toner cartridge to check the area around and underneath it.

Slowly remove any visible paper, pulling it carefully in the direction of the paper path. Avoid tearing the paper.

Check for small pieces of torn paper or other obstructions that may be difficult to see.

Reinstall the toner cartridge and make sure all covers and access doors are securely closed.

Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.

Check whether the “Jam inside” message has cleared, then try printing again.

If no paper is visible

A paper sensor can sometimes detect an obstruction even when a full sheet is not visible. Carefully check the:

Duplex unit

Paper exit area

Paper trays

Document feeder (ADF)

Make sure all trays and covers are properly seated before restarting the printer.

HP's documentation for this LaserJet MFP family identifies different jam locations, including the duplex area, exit area, trays, and document feeder, so the exact location reported by the printer is important.

If the “Jam inside” message remains after you have cleared the entire accessible paper path, please provide the exact message shown on the printer display and let us know whether you can see any paper or torn pieces inside.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
