I have suddenly found it not possible to access my printer status from my computer, via wireless connection, although I am able to print a test page.
I wanted to check the toner levels, as I am aware that some are becoming a little low.
In the past, I have been able to do this via Control Panel/Devices and Printers/HPColor LaserJet Pro M252 PCL6, and obtain details of estimated pages left for each colour and black.
Is this because the toner is low, although I have been able to access this information in the past when cartridges have been low?
Could anyone please advise me of what has gone wrong and how to reinstate the function?

Hello, @JBR99 – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I see that you cannot check the ink level on your LaserJet 252dw printer using the printer software on your PC. I'll be glad to help you with this issue 🙂
First off, you can easily check the ink level of your printer from the printer LCD touch panel. If you check the printer control panel, you will notice a “tear drop” icon which represents the ink level on your printer. Just touch that icon to know the ink level on your cartridges. You can get detailed steps here: http://hp.care/2hFSN6i
Also, I would suggest re-installing the full feature software for your printer to check the ink level on your PC. Follow the steps below:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/LES/M252/HP_LaserJet_M252_Full_Software_and_Drivers_15309.e... to download and install the printer drivers.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Once the software is installed, double-click and open the printer icon on your PC desktop to get the printer assistant window. You can easily check the ink level from here.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck 🙂
