How can I increase the scan resolution for HP6830 printer? Setting is limited to 300 dpi but specifications indicate much higher resolution available. Need at least 600 dpi for old family photos.

I have solved the problem myself but HP didn't make it easy - more instructions would have helped
On scan popup window -
change source setting from ''use document feeder'' to ''always scan from glass''
This then allows resolution to be adjusted up to 1200dpi
(600dpi is a good setting for details in old photos)
Hope this helps others with the same query!

Thank you!
I don't get that exact "always scan from glass" option but it does have an option of "flatbed".
I had removed the "document feeder" option previously but apparently it is a default and I failed to reselect it in a later reinstall.
This solved my problem.
