My printer Error Log has several 'Haltone Calibration Errors' listed plus a few Density Sensor out of range' errors as well.

From my searches using these terms it points to possibly dirty misregistration sensors.

From what I can make out, these sensors should be located just beneath the ETBelt but I'm not too sure whaI need to be looking at. Is there anyone out there who could point me in the right direction please?

Hi Leslie281,

1) The DC controller may require a firmware upgrade.

2) Check the connector J1012 on the DC controller PCB and on the High Voltage PCB if it is seated properly.

3) Clean the lens on the color misregistration detection unit.

4) Replace the paper feed assembly.

It seems that these lenses (color misregistration sensors) are at the rear side of the printer (follow where the J1012 connector goes) ?

All of the above information is from the service manual.

I hope this may help,

Cheers!

Everybody looks at the event log and sees these errors and think they have an issue. You may or may not have an issue as the real test is how are your prints coming out. If the color is fine then do not worry about the errors. If you are having color problems, then yes something may need to be done, but the first would jsut doing 3 color calibrations in a row.

Many thanks for your response and reply. I will investigate further over the coming weekend. I have recently located a supplier of the CP4005dn service manual and I hope, armed with that, I'll successfully move forward. I'll let you know how it goes. Once again - thank you.

Many thanks for your reply.

This query was a re-post of one I posted some two weeks previously with different symptoms since my previous post elicited no suggestions at all despite being viewed by over 40 people.

My problem is that my CP4005dn does not print colour at all apart from the self test picture of the boat deck on the lake where the HP banner towards the bottom bears the phrase ColoorSphere. The word Color is in colour.

All other self test pages are produced in black and white and where colour bands should be, they are blank.

I've got a service manual winging its way to me so will pursue the dirty misregistration sensors option once I can establish where they are and what they look like.

Many thanks once again.

Could you please upload the images of the diagnostics page and the color band test page ?

Perform an engine test to see if you get color lines. If you do the issue is the formatter and  nothing else. Attached are instructions. The link  below may help also.
