Color LJ M577

Hi,

I have a MFP M577 that I'm trying to use at home. Is there a way to use it without the hard drive? I saw a similar post where the expert sent a personal message. Please help!

Thanks in advance.

If you download the firmware readme file from support.hp.com when you download the firmware, there are instructions on entering the Pre-boot menu and there is a format command there and a download command to install the firmware.

This device will not function without a harddrive, the operating system (windows CE based) is installed on that drive. That said, you can run a 575 with a standard SATA drive instead of an encrypted drive, but you are limited to using FutureSmart 3 operating system. FutureSmart 4 requires an self-encrypting drive.

Okay, so to get the OS on a hard drive do I run the firmware from a USB? If I use a standard SATA, does it need to be formatted? Thank you!
