Hello printers who print: I need to print out a calendar on full sheet label paper. Since I'm printing on a full sheet there's no need to line everything up to the size of any labels. But I can't find out how exactly to use the special paper. I tried printing on label paper once before and the results were disastrous😱🙀😿(I need an exploding bomb emoji here). The paper got stuck in the printer, couldn't be removed, even by a visiting repair human and I had to buy a whole new printer. That was a bracing and expensive lesson. I've looked through HP's site and cannot find any instructions on how to print out labels on full sheet label paper (or any kind of label paper for that matter). You might understand how I am a bit hesitant to just go ahead and do this without instruction. Can someone help me? Please?

The main thing is to buy a label that is compatible with a laser printer. Laser printers have a fusing unit which heats the toner up to adhere it to the paper. I have had people run latex labels or transparencies that aren't designed for a laser printer and they will melt inside the machine. The label will clearly identify on its packaging that is designed for laser printers. Since it's a full page, I would recommend printing only 1 page at a time so you can check the quality of your settings.
You can play with the paper settings, if your print quality comes out different that what you expected. Setting the printer paper type type to "labels" or "heavy" or "glossy" can cause subtle difference with the amount of toner applied, the print engines speed, and the fuser pressure and temperature. You may want to check the user guide for which tray the labels should print from. Traditionally that was the bypass tray due to the bends required to feed that label through your printer.

The biggest thing is to set the paper type to labels. This makes the printer run slower so it can feed properly and bond the toner to the label sheets.

I thank you for your erudite response. So glad there are others who can inform me on my (formidable) weak suits. I know other things, just not these. At least now I know what questions to ask of my printer and of the paper. Thanks again!

You know, I actually didn't expect any answers at all to my puny question. I'm going to be stupid and ask how I set the paper type to labels. I don't see anything in the printer preferences. I'm looking in the wrong place? Thank you for your help.
