HP LaserJet Pro M402
Microsoft Windows Server 2012

I have to admit I am stumped on this. I am unable to change the defaults on the printer properties within the print server for this printer. No matter what I do the different printing shortcuts will not accespt my changes nor will the finishing tab allow me to force single sided printing and I am logged in with an admin account and full privledges on the server. All of the different articles I have found to this point indicate printing a document and changing the settings while in print preview and that IS NOT an option as this is on a print server and will be used for many different types of applications that will use this printer. Please help with relevant instructions for updating the properties for the print driver itself if it is available.

Thank you in advance for any help provided.

also if it helps:  driver name and version are HP LaserJet Pro M402-M403 n-dne PCL 6 version 8.0.1326.3536

If you are running on a server, I recommend you use the HP Universal Print Driver 6.7 not the discrete, model specific driver. After the driver is installed, before you push it out to any workstations, open the printer properties page and then

1-click on advanced tab

2- click on Printing defaults

3- Click advanced and set the copy count to 1

Setting the defaults to this will force any installation to a workstation from the server to have these settings. The printing preferences tab only changes for the computer you are logged into.
