I have a HP LaserJet 3015 (NOT P3015). It pulls multiple pages when printing. I have replaced the roller and the separation pad, that has not helped. As I understand it the most likely issue is a sticky solenoid.

I have removed the side covers (both sides) but do not see anything that looks like a solenoid. Presumably it is buried deeper inside. Does anyone have instructions on how to get to it? All internet searches (Google, YouTube) only give results for P3015.

I have the service manual but it does not address this.

Thanks in advance!

The 3015 as I can remember has similar mechanical as 1020 so this video might be a close guide for you.

If not please share a photo of the side of the printer with cover removed.

Thanks. The setup is different than in the video but I think it has helped me identify where the solenoid is, now I have to see if I can get it out. If I cannot I'll send photos and would  be glad for advice. Thanks again!

Thanks to both of you! Here are various pictures showing the right side cover off. I believe the part that has the blue tape wrapped around the coil in the rear bottom left (as seen from the rear of the printer) is the solenoid.

There appear to be 2 screws that might have to be removed, marked as 1 and 2 in the pictures. Do I need to remove 1 or both of these? Getting to No. 1 is simple, but removing it by itself did not help (although it might need to be removed along with others).  Getting to screw no. 2 is difficult -- I tried using an offset screwdriver, but it is tight and there is not much room to maneuver. Also, even if I get it out it's not clear how the solenoid would slide out, and what problems one might have putting it back.

Do I need to remove the 2 printed circuit boards? It appears the upper one i held in by 4 screws and the lower one by 2,  However, there are various cables and possibly hidden fasteners.

Your advice is  really appreciated. Thanks

PS -- after writing this I don't see a way to attach photos. How do I do that?

That is the solenoid which in 99% of cases is only retained by one screw #2 in your diagram. It is possible that #1 is holding a bracket that is in the way but it will not be physically holding the solenoid.

Thanks. Any advice on how to get it out?

I would probably start by removing the metal plate that the connectors on the Formatter board go through.

If you can remove parts from the side then you could wiggle the Solenoid out.

Thanks.  It appears to remove the metal plate first I have to remove both the circuit boards, and even then it's not clear exactly how the plate would come out.  For now I was able to get the printer to work by tapping the solenoid, that released the pawl such that the printer only feeds 1 page at a time. I don't know how long that will last, but I will attempt to remove the metal plate only as a last resort if my "fix" fails.

In the meantime, if anyone has detailed instructions on exactly how to get to the solenoid  I  would really appreciate it.

Thanks again.
