HP X 476 DW
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi all

I have 2 of the same printers at work and they are fantastic beasts.  They are both HP X476dw MFP.  They really are the best printers I have ever owned.  However, I am struggling to print Clock cards (for my business) on them.

I have a spreadsheet set up with 10 pages.  The first page/Tab is titled 'Date'.  The other 9 are the employee names with the week date under their names.  I have linked the date on each persons tab to the date in the first tab ('Date').  Therefore, when I change the date in the first tab ('Date') it changes the date in each clork card.  So far so good.  I currently use (ironically) another HP machine to print the clock cards.  The machine I am using at the moment is a HP laserjet 2200d.  On the laserjet I simply lift the front flap down, move the plastic sliding tabs inwards, load the clock cards (which are 85mm x 185mm) upside down, alter the date in the first tab and then press 'print' all sheets.  I then get a clock card for all people.  All is well.  So, I want to move my printing of clock cards to my new X476DW but I just can't do it.

So, I get my clock cards in my hand and open my spreadsheet.

I then go on 'print settings'

'properties'

I then change the paper size to one I previously made and indeed in the box that is titled 'paper sizes' it says 'my clock cards'.  Above that is the correct paper size (85mm  x  185mm).  Therefore, this means that I have definitely set the paper size correctly.

I then change the paper source to tray 1 (and open the flap at the bottom of the printer for tray 1)

I leave the 'paper type' box as unspecified although I have tried altering this to different options.

'Print on both sides' is set to 'No'

Pages per sheet is set to '1'

'Colour Options' set to Black & White

I then Click 'OK'

I then click 'ok' again in the 'Printer Setup' box which is still on the screen.

I then slide my Clock cards into the bottom of tray 1

I then press 'File'

I then press 'Print'

But now, just before I print I see in the print dialog box that the paper size is now A4

If I click properties it opens the Hp Print Dialog box and indeed the paper has now also reset to A4

So, I change the print out 'type' to 'labels' and indeed the paper size has now changed to what I want '85mm  x  185mm' but the card now prints blank.

If I choose other options such as 'General everyday printing' I get a message on the printer telling me the paper size is wrong.

Any help please?
