There're two sensors hide behind rear door and they are easily loose where they should be and cause the "Rear door open" problem. When rear door closed there are two plastic obstructive will insert into those two sensors to tell machine that the rear door closed.

You need to add something to stick them back to where they should be.

I'll give you a few pictures to show you where the two sensors are.

What's in the picture is HP CP1025nw which has the same sensors as M177.

You'll need to take left & right covers off first then shake and pull the cover seat at the upside of rear door to make it loose and pull it outside toward you then you can those two sensors. Try to find out a way to make these two sensors fixed.
