Hi @robinbrereton1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet printer is only printing half of the page. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the paper size settings
Make sure the paper size selected on your computer matches the paper loaded in the printer tray (for example, A4 vs Letter). A mismatch can cause the printer to stop printing partway.

Verify the print settings in the application
Open the document’s print dialog and confirm scaling is set to 100% or Actual Size, not “Fit” or “Custom scale.” Incorrect scaling can cut off content.

Inspect the printer driver settings
Go to Printer Properties > Preferences and confirm the correct paper size, orientation, and layout are selected. Driver-level settings override application settings.

Print a printer self-test page
Print a configuration or information page directly from the printer control panel.
If the self-test prints fully, the issue is software or driver related rather than hardware.

Update or reinstall the printer driver
Remove the current printer driver and install the latest full-feature driver for the LaserJet 234 from HP’s website. Corrupt or generic drivers often cause partial-page printing.

Check for firmware updates
If available, update the printer firmware. Firmware issues can affect page formatting and print margins.

Try a different document or file type
Print a PDF or a simple text document to rule out file-specific formatting problems.

I hope this helps.
