Halp! I need a guide to resetting the admin-password in my HP PageWide Color MFP 586

I just bought the printer, which was a returned item, from a dealer, in fact it´s quite new. BUT: Some other customer got it before me for testing and they changed the admin password - so no one knows the password anymore

You will need to perform a partial clean through the preboot menu. The readme file for firmware updating available at support.hp.com shows how to get into the preboot menu and also the steps for updating the firmware, which I would recommend as well while you are at it.

So by doing a partial clean it will wipe out the admin password?

Yes, it erases the booting portion of the drive and restores a clean operating system from the backup on the drive which contains no user data including passwords.
