I want to setup up a hp laser jet 4200/4300 but I can’t do it. Please help. This is an old printer

Hello,

the 4200/4300 series is definitely older, but they’re generally straightforward to bring online as long as I know the environment you’re setting them up in. Before I walk you through anything, I need a bit more detail so I don’t point you in the wrong direction.

Can you tell me:

  1. How are you trying to connect it?

    • USB

    • Parallel (LPT)

    • Network via JetDirect card (e.g., 615n/620n/625n)

  2. What system are you connecting it to?

    • Windows 10/11

    • Windows Server

    • macOS

    • Linux

    • Something else?

  3. Does the printer power on normally and pass its self-test?

    • Any errors on the display?

    • Can it print a configuration page?

Once I know those details, I can guide you step-by-step and explain the best setup path for this generation of LaserJet devices.
