Issue is still the same for me as first reported. Unable to print from application server that's in a different subnet than the printer, but only for this model. Latest firmware. Put the printer in the same subnet, no problem. Issue specific to all our M401dn's and MFP M425's.

Have you made sure that all these ports are open on the network :

Also, do you feel that this may be related to your network structure?

No. I can swap out this printer with an HP LaserJet P4015dn in the same network port and it just works.

I am not sure why the network would react to the software packages differently. I am going to look into this and see what I can find out. Can you tell me what happens when you install the printer on a single computer directly?

Hello,

when i said it went ok directly i meant that the printer could communicate directly with other vlan

so fo the first printer my problem is solved, i'll tell you if the 3 others printers will be fixed as well after they change the formatter

So the problem is solved, he changed the formatter on every printer that has the trouble.

Everything works now like a charm.

Definitely an hardware issue

Missing the point on different subnets. When these printers are in a different subnet from the server, there is a problem. When same subnet, no problem at all.

impressme: i suppose it was the same as our problem, for whatever reason the printer network card could not register in the arp table of our router, so communication inside the same network work since it does not go across the router, but since the mac adress of the faulting printer was not send to other routers they didn't know where to send the traffic.

EXACTLY. Thank-you.

I have the same issue... Can ping it on same VLAN no problem.  As soon as it has to pass thru its gateway, it does for the first 5 mins that I reset printer or I change the IP of the printer (hense restarting Network card) ... then nothing.:smileymad:

I'm curious of what version of the Formatter you had.

mine is X5405MF

and firmware is 20121205

It there a log ID for this forum? So when I call HP support I can refer to this thread...
