Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Our printer is what appears to be not completely fusing the ink on the sides of the page.

I ran through several cleaning pages and it didn't help the situation.

I printed out a couple Config Reports and the ink on the box on top doesn't get pressed all the way, I can feel the ink, and it leaves ink down the page until its gone. I did switch out the toner, that didn't resolve it.

The middle of the page is fine.

Let me try and assist. If the paper comes out creased on that side and you can wipe of the toner then the fuser unit is most likely damaged.Inspect the fuser and have it replaced should solve the problem.Hope this helped.

You need a new fuser. The part number is RM1-8808-000CN, but it's kind of a pain to replace.  You'll most likely need a service tech to fix it for you.

I was able to remove the fuser.

Unable to attach a picture, so I'll describe it.

At both ends it is black, however, on one end it isn't solid--- there a streaks of gray that can be seen.

There is also what it seems to be a ring of debris attached to at both ends.

Is this a sign that a new one is needed?

HP Recommended

you definitely need a new one
