I had some printing trouble recently with my C6180 All-in-one printer. For some reason the print jobs were hanging in the spooler or somewhere in the network (still not sure though due to this new problem). I decided I'd uninstall then reinstall the printer drivers in hopes that the driver got corrupted. Uninstall seemed to go ok. When I tried to reinstall, the wizard fails every time right after the screen where you can choose components to install and you have to agree to the EULA. I get an error pop up that says "The system cannot find the file specified." It doesn't tell me what file it's looking for, and it ends the installation at this point.
I've tried everything I can think of to get it work -- shutting off the anti-virus (AVG & Windows Defender), shutting off non-Microsoft services, installing in safe mode, I went through my system and removed every HP file I can find and identify, and I've followed several different fixes I found here and online. All fail at the same point. HP doesn't have a newer version of the software (AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe), but I've downloaded it again just to be safe.
I think it's probably a Windows file that it's missing, but I really have no way to know for sure. You'd think that with a 300 MB install file, they'd include all the **bleep** files it needs to install all by itself!
My system is running Windows 7, 64 bit with all the latest updates.
I'm at my wits end right now and all out of ideas! Can anyone help me please? Thanks!

Finally figured it out!
I uninstalled HP Solution Center again completely and reinstalled it once again. This time it actually found my printer, though it was only displaying the wireless configuration. I thought that was odd, since I had the ethernet cable plugged in and the wireless turned off. I tried several times various ways to get it to make a connection but each time it failed and told me to turn off my firewall, etc. I tried with and without the firewall. Nothing was working. So I decided to go back into my router's settings and check again for some problem there.
The control panel for my router is very basic and provided almost no settings to adjust. I reinstalled the router's software and lo and behold, I had full control of every option I could want. One thing jumped out at me almost immediately -- my C6180 and my Chromecast both shared the same IP address!!! Go figure!! I went into my printer, changed the IP, rebooted the router and re-ran the HP device installer. It went pretty smoothly, except for hanging on one of the screens. I force closed it, and the installer picked right up where it hung and continued the install successfully. Both printing and scanning are now working properly.
Thank you for your help!

Hi,
Please try following the installation till the EULA screen once again.
Click the 2nd link on this screen to change the internet connection usage settings, select No, Thanks for both of the options and confirm the changes.
Next click the 3rd link to select teh doftware installation, keep only the following components:
- the printer model
- Read Iris OCR
- HP Solution Center
- HP Digital Imaging Dunctionality
Confirm the changes and try following the installation once again.
If the same persists, try scrubbing the software as following:
- From the searcg menu loock for %temp%, then open the Temp folder.
- Open the HP installation folder, which starts with 7z.
- Open the Util folder.
- Open the CCC folder.
- Run Uinstall_L4.bat and a CMD dialog will appear.
- If nothing happens after 20-30 seconds press the Enter key once to start the uninstall process.
You will see about 5-6 different uninstallations one after another, be sure to confirm any alert and follow the steps till you will be guided to reboot your PC to complete the Uninstall, then try installing the software again.
Hope that helps,
Shlomi

Thank you! Your solution got the software mostly installed. The Solution Center won't go forward until I've installed the device and it won't find the device.
It can't find my printer on the wired network. I've disabled the Windows Firewall, searched for the printer by it's IP address, and rebooted the router, printer and computer to no avail.
I also tried connecting wirelessly, which my printer finds the router and is able to log in to it, however the setup program still doesn't find the printer.
Finally I tried connecting via USB directly but it doesn't find the printer this way.
Any suggestions? Thanks again for your help!

Hi,
Can you access the printer home page by typing its IP address into your web browser?
If the printer home page appears, try removing previous instances by going to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
If there is any listed instance of your printer, be sure to remove the dveice.
Right click the background area and click on Device Manager,
Click the View menu at the top and then select Show hidden devices.
Look for your printer model within the following categories, if those doe not exist skip this step:
Imaging Devices, Printers, Print Queues, Multifunction Adapters, Other Devices.
Be sure to Reboot your PC at this time.
If you have any additional secutiry applications as Norton, Mcafee, be sure to temporary disable those as well.
If that does not help also try the following:
Right click the Ethernet / Wireless icon on your tray and open the Network and Sharing Center.
Right under your network name you will see a network type listed..
If it is listed as Public, double click it and change it to Home or Work network to allow communicating with devices through the network.
Run the installation and select Add a Device.
For any further issues, try installing this update as well and check if that may help:

Shlomi

Hi Shlomi,
I was able to view the printer in my web browser, however, I removed it from the Devices and Printers list to try re-installing it. Now it's not available in the browser.
In Device Manager, none of the categories you mentioned were present.
I rebooted and disabled my antivirus and firewall.
My network is a Home Network and seems to be working fine – I can connect to the internet and to my network attached storage without issue.
I installed the patch you linked to. It didn’t make any difference.
I added the printer back in the Devices and Printers list and now I can connect to it in my web browser again.
The HP install software still cannot find my printer.
I tried to print from MS Word. It appears to print, but nothing happens at the printer. In the print manager the job shows up, but there’s an error status.
Any more suggestions?
Thanks!

An update - I installed the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it finds the printer on the network without trouble.
The HP Solution Center software still cannot find the printer.
I also tried it again in the web browser. The printer homepage showed up, but when I clicked on a tab, it lost the printer. I refreshed the page and it still couldn't find the printer. I clicked the Fix connection problems button and a Windows Network Diagnostics window popped up saying "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection." I cannot open the printer homepage in my browser now.
