I cannot get print jobs to print from my Dell laptop on my Hp LaserJet. However, I can get my iPhone to print those very same documents. What is happening and how can I fix it please? If I scroll through the printer screen, it sometimes shows an Internal Processing Error. Not sure how there can be an error if it's able to print just fine from my cell phone. Thank you.

Hi @TinaBeebs

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for your patience and for already narrowing this down by testing from your phone. That’s incredibly helpful.

The “Internal Processing Error” when printing from your Dell laptop—but not your iPhone—suggests a Windows-side communication or driver issue. Let’s refresh the connection and driver setup to restore smooth printing.

Let’s now focus on resolving the issue from your Windows laptop with the following steps:

Step 1: Run Diagnose & Fix from the HP App

This tool is designed to clear print queue errors, resolve spooler issues, and reconnect the printer to the correct port.

  1. Open the HP App on your Windows 11 laptop.
  2. Click your printer name (or Add Printer if it’s not listed).
  3. Select Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
  4. Look for Diagnose & Fix and run the tool.

If you don’t have the HP App installed:

  • Download it from the Microsoft Store

Step 2: Clear Print Queue and Restart Print Spooler

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
  3. Open File Explorer and go to:
    C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
  4. Delete all files in this folder.
  5. Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

Step 3: Reinstall the Printer Driver

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP LaserJet and select Remove device.
  3. Disconnect the printer from USB or Wi-Fi.
  4. Restart your PC.
  5. Reconnect the printer and reinstall the full driver package from HP: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Search for your exact LaserJet model and download the Full Feature Software and Driver.

Step 4: Check Print Settings and File Type

  • Ensure the document you’re printing is not corrupted.
  • Try printing a simple PDF or Word document.
  • Avoid printing from web browsers or apps that may embed complex fonts or graphics.

Step 5: Test with a Different App

Try printing from Notepad or WordPad to isolate whether the issue is app-specific.

Step 6: Use Embedded Web Server (EWS) for Diagnostics

If your printer is on the network:

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.
  2. Enter the IPv4 address into your browser.
  3. Access the EWS > Reports or Diagnostics section to check for logs or errors.

Let me know if you’d like help locating your printer’s model-specific driver or navigating the EWS. We’ll get this sorted out together.
