HP Color LaserJet MFP M377dw
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hi!
I've been using my HP Color LaserJet MFP M377dw for quite some time now, and previously used a HP LaserJet PRO 500 Color MFP M570dn until I broken the plastic hinges on the lid.

Product Name: HP Color LaserJet MFP M377dw
Formatter Number: 4F91H4N
Serial Number: <removed for this forum post>
Cartridge Index: DPAS KNHL
Service ID: 29004
Firmware Datecode: 20201022
Control Panel Version: 0x15
Location: Sweden

However, I'm getting a lot of PDF/PostScript parser error on this machine (M377dw). Perhaps as many as 80% of PDFs that contain an image fails with the same error:
POSTSCRIPT Error

Sumsystem: PARSER

Error: InternalError 0xc8

File Name: PDFSender_Interp.

Line Number: 12345

Error Information:

  Reported by PDL

  Failed reading startxref number

I'm more than happy to supply example PDF files for support/trouble shooting. The ONLY workaround I've found, is to use the Android HP Smart app for files where I get this startxref problem.

I've tried:

- printing directly from Chrome

- printing from Chrome, using "Print using system dialog..."

- printing using Mac OS Preview

- printing using USB stick

- printing using Android App (I access PDFs over Google Drive, same files as used in printing attempts above)

I did read the below forum thread, which lead me to using the app (from 123.hp.com) and this is currently the only way for me to print PDF files that cause the PDF parser issue.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Subsystem-PARSER-Error-InternalError-0xc8-Printer-st...

To be clear: printing these PDFs which causes the PDF parser issues, is only working when I use the Android app.

I would like to be able to print the same file from my computer. So I read up on . I've installed HP Smart on my MacBook Air M1, 2020 (Big Sur, 11.4 (20F71)), using the App Store (I got version 12.8.0 (556)). The printer installed with Secure AirPrint.

What can I do next to get this sorted?
