Product: LaserJet Pro M452dn
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

replacing a LJ Pro 400 (M451nw) with a LJ Pro M452dn. old printer uses 305 cartridge, new printer uses 410. I just put in new 305. Can I use the 305 in the new printer which takes the 410? Appears compatible from what I see online, but can't find anything official thru HP

Nope,  you can't use HP 305 cartridge in M452dn.
