Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Laserjet 1606dn printer and I am trying to successfully print on a Windows Surface running Win10 64bit. I can install the printer but when I try to print a test page it just sits in the queue and nothing happens.

I did download "HP LaserJet Pro P1100, P1560, P1600 Series Full Feature Software and Driver, v1601" but that doesn't seem to work. Also, I tried to connect the Surface to the printer via USB cable and again, it installs but I can't print anything out.

If I recall there is a "legacy" driver that should be used but I can't remember where it is.

Hi,

Unplug the USB cable a such is connected, from Devices and Printers right-click any icon of your printer and select Remove Device.

Browse to C:\LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution and double click HpSetup.exe to start the installation, then follow the steps on screen.

It is no longer connected to the printer via USB.  I am trying to connect as a network printer with a static IP address.

How is this "Browse to C:\LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution and double click HpSetup.exe to start the installation, then follow the steps on screen".  going to resolve my issue?

Again, I can install it but I can't print out a test page.  Your suggestion is going to help to resolve it?

The reason, due to some latest Windows 10 updates the installation doesn't launch as expected.

Please follow these steps and complete the shown setup dialog, then check if you may see any difference.

Be sure not to connect the USB till the HP  installation wizard guides to connect it.

This is a driver issue, right?  I thought I read somewhere there is a "legacy" setting in the printer properties for those printers that are no longer supported by Windows 10.
