The eMMC in our M553 went bad and was replaced.  I got as far as reinstalling the firmware, but after inserting the thumb drive, turning the printer on, and navigating to Administrator > download > USB Thumbdrive, I get an "No USB Thumbdrive or Files found" error.

Is the USB port on my printer bad, or is it something else?  The thumbdrive is formatted for NTFS, and the update file is the only one on the drive.

Hi WBCheek,

First of all you will have to format the USB thumbdrive in FAT32.

Make sure you download the correct firmware for M553 model and store in the root directory.

You can use either the front usb port of the printer near the display screen or the one at the back of the printer on the formatter. I recommend you to do a format disk in the preboot menu and then install the  firmware.

I hope this will help,

Cheers!
