in the past i have printed labels off my icloud contacts on an old hp inkject printer by pressing print, drop down for labels, and then selected Avery label style - bought an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M278-M281, but cannot figure out how to print labels - there is no drop down going from paper to labels and the operating manual gives instructions that dont work - Help?

@Bacher

I can try to help at least point you in the right direction.  I don't have a Mac cannnot test the actual setup for you.

At least one of the following Specifications does indicate the printer series supports the "label" paper.

I would guess that each of the printers in this series supports about the Media choices (I did not examine every document to verify that assumption).

In General, try selecting (in your print dialog) the size of the paper first - this tells the software to then display compatible Media types for the paper size.

From what I can see in the Specifications, and assuming you have installed the Full Solution / Full Software, your new printer should be able to print labels (at least standard size label sheets - Letter or A4 depending on your region).

Note:  The Avery Design & Print software that you download and install on your Mac / PC for free, can help you set up / create your label project and print that project on your own printer.

In addition to the basic setup to create your labels, when you select Print, be sure (while you are setting the print job parameters) that you click "Properties" / Preferences / "something" that opens the print dialog.  The Print dialog allows you to manually select / verify the exact print settings before you send the job to the printer.   (My apologies for the vague description - I know what the entire setup looks like in Windows.. Mac "not so much".)

It appears that once you have signed into your Avery Account (free), clicking Help does provide at least some guidance.  There are also a support phone number and Chat (neither of which are open on Weekends - Rats)

This software helps you print your projects by providing a "step-by-step" environment.

After the software is installed, support on projects is available.  At least during the week, the HP Creations Support staff is available to help, too.  Staff is knowledgeable and willing to assist with setup and questions.

Dragon Document - The "long way 'round"

Having admitted that the Mac setup is a mystery to me, the Dragon Document includes (no surprise) Examples in Windows using various methods to create and print labels, including Word and the Avery Print software print setup.  PERHAPS the examples will be similar enough to your Mac setup that you can extrapolate some of what you need to print your labels on your printer.
