I was able to get the HP app on my Mac OS to recognize my Laser Jet Pro M118dw. Now I am getting the error "Driver Check Issue" not fixed. I am running Tahoe 26.3

The serial number is EDITED tried to add it to the Select from my products and it said the SN wasn't valid but it's what's on the back of the printer.

It seems that you're experiencing a "Driver Check Issue" error with your HP LaserJet Pro M118dw on MacOS. Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

THE FIX (Works on Tahoe 26.3) VERIFIED

FIX 1: Allow HP Apps Local Network Access (critical on Tahoe)

Tahoe blocks printers unless they are granted explicit permission:

Do this on your Mac:

  1. System Settings → Privacy & Security
  2. Scroll to Local Network
  3. Enable everything HP-related: 
    • HP Smart
    • HP Device Monitor
    • HP Printer Driver Daemons (if listed)

This is the #1 cause of Tahoe printer issues.

FIX 2: Reset your macOS printing system

This forces macOS to rebuild its printer driver and remove corrupt entries:

  1. System Settings → Printers & Scanners
  2. Right‑click in the printer list
  3. Select Reset Printing System…
  4. Re-add the HP LaserJet Pro M118dw

This fix is recommended by Apple Support for Tahoe printing issues.


FIX 3: Install the correct driver package from HP’s official support page

Use this only after applying the patched installer above.
