My last post was #14 dated 04-04-2012 and more than 18 months have passed, yet users left with no solution with this issue. I really don't think HP is capable of fixing it or willing to fix it (I hope I'm wrong). My printer has been collecting dust.

The quickest solution is to provide users with the capability of reverting back to  older version is 20110512 (I believe that is last known working version). At least this will allow many users to use the wireless function without any new features added in the versions.

Gemini02 or any HP tech support member please help users this way instead of providing useless instructions which would only add more frustration and waste time. I understand the tech support side most likely have very little influence to the develop team at this point for an old product, but downloading older firmware should be within your control!

My suggestion is to keep posting here. The problem is not your router, it's the bunkus firmware. If you keep posting and insist that others' suggestions of 'static IPs' and changed security structure on your modem / router do absolutely nothing to address this problem, then hopefully the cacophony of voices here will get HPs tech folk to fix this correctly in the next firmware upgrade. Heck, if we yell loudly enough, it might even happen during this decade.

None of the above work. Printer keeps loosing wireless settings, have to re-config again using USB. I'm a sysadmin so that noone thinks it's a stupid "have you reset the router" situation. We have other HP, Epson, Ricoh and Brother printers all working fine.

If a new firmware doesn't show it's time to geit replaced. A shame of gasoline waste for such a easy fix, if HP should allocate an engineer to fix the firmware.

Hello

I understand the printer isn't staying on the network.

One other thing you could try is  to turn the sleep mode off to see if it makes a difference. If it hasn't been mentioned yet.
Go into devices and printers, right click on the printer, left click on printer properties, device settings, select never.

Your best option at this time would be to contact HP Tech Support for further
assistance to see what other options are available for you. Click Here.

Setting a static IP does not help with the probelm with this printer losing its connection - at least not in my case.  The first thing I did when I first installed it was set a static IP.  It lost the connection after the auto-shutdown after four hours (the maximum time allowed) and has not been able to retain it since I foolishly allowed the firmware to be upgraded.

It's a cute little printer, but if I'd kept the box I'd've sent it back to Amazon a month ago and paid a little extra for a real printer with a NIC.

Hey folks from hp, this post is from 2011 and the problem isnt't solved yet. Everytime I receive an update-mail from this post I hope, that there will be a solution. But nothing changes. I didn't count, how often you advised users to use static ip or to change the autopowerdownorwhatever function. I can't believe, that people at hp-labs aren't able to reconstruct this behavior. Please provide the old firmware for us. I don't need new fancy stuff with my printer, I only would like to print again without using a repeater with WPA turned off. Stefan

Dear HP - Please fix your firmware.

Static IP's don't help, sleep settings don't help, etc.

I worked with Cisco & performed wireless capture etc to try to determine this issue.

Cisco says that they do not see anything abnormal in the wireless capture, and that it is likely an issue with the printer's firmware.

HP - PLEASE fix your firmware.

Seriously....If HP can't fix this by the end of this calendar year, I suggest we all inform HP that this is the last product of theirs we will ever buy.  It's painfully obvious now that the problem is in the latest firmware upgrade and if HP simply looked back at the prior firmware code and its WiFi connectivity module(s), compare the differences, and re-use the prior logic, this problem would be solved.

Another option - To HP - give the forum contributors on this thread access to the firmware source and let us fix it for you.  Surely there can't be too much proprietary information in a simple firmware release to compromise the intellectual property.  Heck, I'm sure most of us would be happy to commit to non-disclosure too.

C'mon HP, you can do it!  Let's get this fixed together.

The wireless connectivity bug isn't the only one they need to fix, but is the worst.

The other bug is how slow that the device prints when connected wirelessly, printing from ipads, etc.

Sometimes it takes 8-10 minutes for a page to come out.
