The printer stuck at initializing screen after enabling WiFi printing option. I have already applied a hard reset unplugging power cord from rear while printer was idle, as suggested on the forum but to no avail. Please send me instructions for super NVRAM reset.

thank you.

@iq99,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

We can also try updating the printer firmware and check if that fixes the issue.

If the issue persists then you can proceed to perform NVRAM Reset.

Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Perform a power reset by removing the toner cartridges.

  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • Remove all the toners from the printer and close the door.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
  • Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
  • Reinsert the toner cartridges, and then close the cartridge access door. If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Update the printer firmware

  • Turn off the wifi router.
  • Restart the printer without turning the WiFi on.
  • Disable the wifi printing option.
  • Turn on the Wifi Router. Check if the issue persists. If not proceed to the next step.
  • Update the printer firmware.
    • Follow this link to update the printer firmware.
  • After updating the printer firmware, restart the printer
  • Enable the Wifi printing option.
  • Check if the issue is fixed or if you have the same problem.

Let me know what happens. If the issue persists, I would share the steps to reset the printer.

Hi, thank you for reaching me out. After following the detailed instructions. the printer still at the initializing stage. I would like to add, I'm unable to update the firmware as the printer is in an error stage (initializing stage). please help me with NSVRAM procedure that might help.

I would like to ask, on printer turn on, the scanner doesn't complete its run over the scanner glass. Is it the reason the printer is in the initializing stage?

Looking forward to your comments. Thank you

@iq99,

Reset settings of a printer differ from one printer model to another.

I will send you a private message that would have the steps to reset your printer.

(Note: Resetting the printer to the factory settings would erase all configurations like your Wireless settings, Fax settings, and other preferences.

You have to re-do the set up again once you perform the reset.)

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers!
