LaserJet 1606dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My LaserJet 1606dn has worked well for years. Recently, it just stopped. The toner was getting low so I replaced the cartridge, but it still doesn't work. I printed the Self Test / Device Configuration page and the status is listed as "An unknown error occurr".

I've tried printing from two different computers, with no luck.

What can I do?

Thank you

Mark

Problem Solved!

I discovered that another device on my home network took the IP address that was previously assigned to my printer.  The printer couldn't connect to the network, and my computers could not connect to it. Once I changed the IP address on the other device the printer worked again.

Thanks

Mark

Hi @taimenbane,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! I understand that you are having issues printing from both computers.I would be happy to help you.

Since the self-test printed, most likely it is a software issue.

Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Let me know the results.

Let me know how the printer is connected?

Hello Gemini02,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not work. I installed the Print and Scan Doctor, but it can't find my printer. I rebooted my printer and re-printed the Self Test / Device Configuration page to make sure it has the same IP address and it does. I used the Print and Scan Doctor to search for the printer and tried entering the machine address and IP and it never could find my pinter. I have confirmed that the network cable is plugged in to both the printer and the router. The connection light is visible on both ends. What else can I try?
