I having the same issue as well at one of the schools that I work for. I have remove jobs from the que and also did a firmware update but when it downloads, the firmware doesn't not activate. I am not sure that it is installing properly on the computer/laptop that I have used.

As far as receiving this error in regards to printing a webpage... we all know IE is the worst app in the world to print from... so what we found was by loading the page and hitting f12 it brings up IE negotiated page settings. Take note of the Browser Mode and the Documents Mode and then change this site to Documents Mode IE7 Standards and we were able to print. I think we are going to wind up adding these sites like this to a GPO that forces them into compatability mode. This will change the browser mode and the Document Mode...however I think Browser Mode is the only thing that has to be scaled back. For us it has be to IE7 Document mode and we run IE9 and IE10.

Re: 49.4A.04 errors.

The most common cause of these errors are the following;

Corrupt Print Jobs

Print Jobs stuck in print queue

Documents printed with incompatible (un-flattened) links or embedded objects.

Incompatible PDF software/freeware which does not support Network Printing. Be sure to check the readme files of all freeware before implemeting.

Resolution strategies:

Download & install the latest firmware and Drivers from HP.com: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html

Disconnect the LAN cable from the Printer and reboot. If the device boots to ready, the problem is not hardware related, it is a communication error under which the printer cannot recover.

Connect USB cable to Printer and try printing a job in a direct connect (by-passing the network).

Setup a 2 device LAN with a laptop containing the file being printed.

Print via the EWS using the "Print" option.

Use a licensed PDF software, or compress the file before priting, so embedded objects will print in flattened format.

Use USB walk-up port on front of device to print file.

What I have is a m575 that seems to have a clear print que on the printer but goes to a 49.4A.04 error after being plugged into my network for few hours. Length of times vary. Until the error appears, it seems to be printing jobs from my LAN fine. I was told there have been instances today where the printer has spontaneously powered down. Prints PDF from walkup usb .  There intermittent problems are the worst.
