Laserjet M712 Separation Roller Pinching Pages

Hello, I recently replaced all the rollers in our Laserjet M712 using a maintenance kit but now we're having issues with the Pickup/Separation rollers in Tray 2 and 3.  It looks like the page is being pinched during pickup, folding the leading edge of the page back on itself which causes the page to jam later in the cycle.  Sometimes a page can make it through to the end but has a small fold the same width of the separation roller.

We also find some black residue inside the tray which makes me think the Pickup roller is scraping harshly against the separation roller.  I notice the separation roller requires a lot of pressure to be turned which i think is the problem.  Are the separation rollers supposed to be so hard to turn?  Can they be re lubricated?  These rollers were supposed to be new in box, but they seem seized up.

If the separation rollers are unusually hard to turn and are leaving black residue, they may be defective or seized. I wouldn’t try lubricating them, since that could affect the paper grip. I’d remove the Tray 2/3 rollers and compare them with the old ones if you still have them, then consider getting replacement rollers from another kit/supplier.

The small black roller on the separator should be hard to rotate, that is normal.

You installed the original HP maintenance kit, not a low-quality aftermarket copy?
