Dell D10S
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laserjet works fine when hooked up to USB, but now moved to a wireless location. The software won't work.

Tried Win 10 printer install: "Driver not available"
Tried uninstall Universal printer driver, restart, reinstall HP driver, error (no code).

HP Print doctor can find the device, downloads the lastest version, but it crashes each time (error, no codes).

Win 10 can see the printer...so it's in wireless range.

Tried all the different software packages for Win 10 from the HP website...all get an error on install.

Here is what worked.  I down-loaded the Universal Print Driver from HP.  These installed in their own default location.  Taking note of where they installed.

Next, from Windows 10, attempt to install the Pro 400 laserjet.  "Drivers not found"  <- this is an important step.  Leave the printer icon alone.

Next go to Control Panel, small icons.  Device Manager.  Look for Printers, find the Laserjet.
Right-click, and choose Update Drivers.  Don't update Automatically.  Choose Manual.

Browse for the Universal Printer Driver.  Wait a minute...BOOM.  All is fine.  Printing works from every wireless PC and Laptop.

HP Window 10 software for the Pro 400 Laserjet is broken.  It will NOT install any drivers as it crashes with an unknown error.
