I have an error message of Jam in Print Paper Path. I have opened the rear door and do not see any jam.  I did clear the envelope I was printing from the front of the machine. The error message remains. What can I do?

OK, were you printing the envelope from tray 1?

You may need to follow the istructions here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m452-series/7326532/document/c04801821

To try and get all the paper flags to reset.  Pulling out the tray and dropping down the tray plate.

Also, open the front door and pull out the cartridge tray.  Then reinsert it.

Hello Katie255-_,

Did the envelope tear as you pulled it out?  If so, there could be a small piece lodger further inside teh printer.  Try using a flash light to see if you can locate any remnants.

Does the error persist on the display after you turn the printer off and on?  Sometimes an error flag may need to reset after a paper jam, and a power cycle can accomplish that reset.

I unplugged the power cord from the back of the unit and from the wall and waited 60 seconds before turning hp back on.  The error message is still there.

The envelope did not rip, it was just like an accordian.  How can I reset the power cycle? I have unplugged it from the rear and from the wall outlet and still get the message.

Hi Katie255

Error message can be displayed due to two reasons -

1. due to error stuck after an actual paper jam OR

2. due to an actual jam in printer

While the first can be cleared thru hard reset or by restoring to defaults (pls make note of any configurations made), the second can be cleared by looking for the paper that is actually stuck.

Following articles will be of help to identify different locations in printer where paper could've jammed

If jam is in Output Bin:

https://support.hp.com/wise/DocumentDetail/apj-en?contentType=Support%20Document&docId=c04801921

If jam is in rear door & Fuser area:

https://support.hp.com/wise/DocumentDetail/apj-en?contentType=Support%20Document&docId=c04801890

If jam is in Tray 2:

https://support.hp.com/wise/DocumentDetail/apj-en?contentType=Support%20Document&docId=c04801859

If jam is in Tray 1:

https://support.hp.com/wise/DocumentDetail/apj-en?contentType=Support%20Document&docId=c04801821

If you find that there's no actual paper jam in the printer, you can try restoring the printer to it's defaults once:

(Setup Menu -> Service Menu -> Restore Defaults)

Hard Reset can be done by disconnecting the power cable from the printer while the it's still ON & connecting it back after 1 minute. Pls disconnect the power cable from the printer & the wall socket too.

(PLS ENSURE THAT THE COMMUNICATION MEDIUM (USB / NETWORK CABLE) IS DISCONNECTED BEFORE RESETTING THE PRINTER)

Hope this helps.. 🙂
