Laserjet Professional P1600 Series printer started turning off about 10 minutes after the last print. Never did this before for the last 10 years. Need it to stay on to print scheduled overnight reports.

Hi @Marshall47,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your printer is likely using Auto-Off, an energy-saving feature.

  • Auto-Off automatically reduces power consumption after a period of inactivity.

  • The printer returns to the ready state when a button is pressed or when a print job is received.

  • In Auto-Off mode, all control-panel LEDs and the power button backlight are off, but the printer should still print normally when it receives a job.

  • One HP document says the default Auto-Off time is five minutes, and you can change the Auto-Off interval or disable Auto-Off by clearing “Automatically turn off device after inactivity.” Another HP source describes Auto-Off as occurring after a user-specified time period.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
