Hello
I bought a new Laserjet cp 10225nw printer, but is not recognized by windows and it's almost impossible for me to install the driver.
What I have to do to fix this huge (for me) problem?
Thanks to who'll reply to this topic.

Hello @freewaresnews – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
I see that you are having issues for the printer to get recognized by your computer. I think we can fix this issue by following a clean install process. Try the steps below:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
- Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
- Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
- Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
- Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Once done you can try cleaning out your temporary files and cached files. You can try using automated applications like some cleaner software's that you can download from the internet.
- Now restart your computer again.
- Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL34891/lj-86479-9/LJCP1025_Series_Full_Solution_Ver4.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
- Connect the USB cable only once prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. (Make sure the printer is turned on before connecting the USB cable)
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Thanks & have a great day 🙂

I don't know what's really happened, but today Windows Update has been able to download the printer drivers without using the included installation disc.
So, now the printer is working good.
For any new issue with the printer, I'll post a new questione.

I followed your list but I still have the same issue. I can see the wireless printer in the printers list but it says driver not installed. I can access the printer through the network from my wired connected PC to the Wireless connected printer but I cannot install the driver because it says there is no printer. I cannot use the HP Smart app thing because it wants my wired PC to be connected to the same Wireless network ( and it is as the wired PC can use the printers setting and configurations in my browser to make changes to the printer which is connected as wireless)
I have a cp1025nw printer
I have windows 10 Pro
I have the printer connected wireless to the access point.
My PC is connected via a wire to the network.
I can see the printer in the browser, the devices and printers list,
AND the HP Smart app even shows it as there but no driver:
BUT I STILL AM NOT ABLE TO INSTALL ITS DRIVER?
All I want is for it to do what it is supposed to do and BE a printer connected to the network via its wireless settings so ALL my PCs on my wired network can print to it.
WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT? 6 hours I have been working on this ...just this time... I have had the printer for years and it has NEVER printed via its wireless ability
It is a pain to connect it via USB due to proximity and the wired connection is just as problematic as it drops and has to be reinstalled or power cycled before each use.

OMG now after ranting here and doing the exact same thing for the 37th time it actually confugured it and printed a test page wirelessly. Go figure. did nothing different than I have sooo many times. My bet is that tomorrow it will cease working again. lol have a nice day
