HP laserjet mfp 630

I have customer that has a HP laserjet mfp 630, the prints and internal prints are fine. When you copy from the flatbed or the adf the copies are light. The optics have been cleaned, by that I mean glasses, mirrors etc. Any advice would be appreciated. The mfp has 894712 copies on it

Is the device in a dirty environment? Did you clean the optics in both the image scanner and the laser scanner. We have had cases where print quality will be reasonable but when you copy the reduced density due to dirty mirrors in the laser scanner  become evident. Just like making a copy of a VHS tape, you lose a certain amount of quality with each generation. If not dirt then check settings, we find that often to get great quality from poor originals you need to set scan type to text and not mixed.
